The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and the Joint Task Force South-South Operation Delta Safe have pledged to be mutually supportive as they pursue their respective mandates to maximise the development of local content in the oil and gas industry and ensure enhanced security arrangements for industry-related production and transmission facilities.
Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, Engr. Felix OmatsolaOgbe, and his JTF counterpart, Rear Admiral John U. Okeke,exchanged their assurances during a courtesy visit on Friday by the former at the Headquarters of the military outfit in Igbogene, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
In his welcome remarks, Rear Admiral Okeke highlighted the connection between the mandate of the NCDMB and that of the JTF, noting that the protection of oil and gas facilities and checkmating activities relating to oil theft were critical to the attainment of local content goals.
“We are going to assist the Board achieve its mandate,” he declared, adding, “We assure you we’ll achieve the common purpose for the good of the nation.”
In his response, Engr. Ogbe commended the role of the military “for keeping the nation safe and ensuring that we are all safe in Bayelsa.” He recalled the stated expectation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on teamwork, pointing out that “we have to work as a team to make sure that we grow production in oil and gas operations.”
Continuing, he noted that “we in NCDMB cannot do it alone, we have to work with you … we have to ensure that Nigerian Content is attained.” He assured the Admiral that the Board would provide support for the JTF for its operational requirements.
On the team of the Executive Secretary were senior Management staff, including Mr. Peter Isu Odo, General Manager, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Engr. Mofe Megbele, Senior Technical Assistant to the Executive Secretary, and Mr. Obinna Ezeobi, Deputy Manager, Media and Publicity.
