New ESSO leadership visits NCDMB, affirms commitment to local content development, new projects  

The new leadership of ESSO Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited, affiliate of ExxonMobil corporation on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe. 

The ESSO delegation was led by the Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Jabir Baxi, to the Board’s liaison office in Lagos. He was accompanied by the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, Femi Ogunbi; Africa Human Resources Manager, Bala Aliyu; and Nigeria Human Resources Manager, Mrs Emem Abraham. 

At the visit, Mr Baxi affirmed the company’s commitment to developing local content and complying with the Nigerian Oil and Gas.Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act. 

The meeting also touched on emerging upstream opportunities and human capital development and reaffirmed both parties’ commitment to deepening collaboration in the country’s oil and gas sector. 

The ESSO boss commended the Board’s management for the warm reception and the opportunity for open discussions on industry prospects. 

“I recently assumed the role of Chairman and Managing Director of ExxonMobil with a strong commitment to strengthening partnerships in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. I appreciate the Executive Secretary and the NCDMB team for the warm reception today as we discussed new opportunities. We look forward to great news and greater opportunities,” he said. 

In his response, Ogbe welcomed the delegation and congratulated Mr Baxi on his appointment. He emphasised the Board’s readiness to work closely with the company in promoting local content growth and sustainable industry development. 

“ExxonMobil has been a key partner in advancing Nigerian content over the years, and we are eager to build on that legacy. The Board remains committed to ensuring our engagements deliver value to Nigerians through technology transfer, job creation, and capacity building,” Ogbe stated. 

As part of the visit, the Executive Secretary presented the ExxonMobil team with a commemorative plaque, symbolising the Board’s appreciation for the company’s contributions to local content development and its continued partnership.
