Benny International School, Akenpai, Yenagoa has emerged as the winner of the second edition of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) sponsored Secondary School science quiz competition.

The competition which was keenly contested among students of various secondary schools in Bayelsa State was organized by Nigerian Television Authority and the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria within the State. In his remark, the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Dr. Ernest Nwapa reiterated the importance of Science in our society as the tool for development of any economy.

He recognized that the Board accepted the sponsorship of the programme because it is in line with our mandate which is to develop the capacities of Nigerians to work in the oil and gas industry and raise competent manpower to take over the management of the industry. “The beauty of science and technology is in the magical way it transforms our lives, our communities and our nation.

All over the world, young people are inspired by the “can do” mindset which drives innovation and ingenuity.” Engr. Ernest who was represented by the General Manager, Board Project/ES Office Coordination, Dr. Ginah O. Ginaha further congratulated the Students and the participating schools and encouraged them to further reach at the Star in their pursuit.

Also, speaking at the event, the General Manager, Nigerian Television Authority, Mr. Remi Daramola appreciated the Board for her continuous support and taking up the sponsorship of the programme. He congratulated the students for the effort they put into the competition and for coming out better. He encouraged that they should not rest on their hoare but continue to be the best in their life endeavours.

In his words, “It is therefore my pleasure to congratulate the winners of the competition- Benny International School, that came first, Biedomo Premier School, Yenagoa, 2nd and Faith Comprehensive International Secondary, Okutukutu, Yenagoa which took the third place. We also congratulate other participating schools and encourage you all to put in more effort next year” The schools were given complete desktop computers with printer while participants of the winning schools were given Laptops.
