The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has held a town hall meeting with key stakeholders of the Odukpani community in Cross River State, as part of efforts to ensure hitch free development of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park project.
The Zonal Coordinator, Akwa Ibom/Cross River NCDMB Zonal Office, Mrs. Ada Ohaeri represented the Executive Secretary, Engr. Simbi Wabote at the meeting and explained the benefits of citing the project in the community. She informed that citizens of the community and other Nigerians would enjoy training and employment opportunities during the construction and operations phases of the project. She added that about 2000 jobs would be created when the park begins full operation.
Hon Bassey Akiba who represented the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) in Cross River State stressed the need for stakeholders to protect the investment and promote peaceful coexistence, noting that it was the only way the project would be completed and benefit the community.
Paramount Ruler of Odukpani clan, His Royal Majesty Ekpeyong Effiok pledged to ensure that the citizens maintain the existing peaceful atmosphere that pervade the community.
The ground breaking of the Oil and Gas Park was held on March 2, 2018.

This is a good development that should be encouraged by all. However, follow-up is necessary and highly recommended knowing the economic transformation the project seeks to achieve in the state.
