The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is set to innovate strategies that will deepen interventions aimed at domiciling industry activities within Nigeria.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Mr. Denzil Amagbe Kentebe who stated this on Tuesday in Yenagoa at his first town hall meeting with staff also pledged to galvanize industry stakeholders to improve on the achievements recorded in the first five years of implementing Nigerian Content.
He announced plans to strengthen the Board’s internal processes and enforce the compliance monitoring system.
Kentebe who paid tribute to the pioneer Executive Secretary, Dr. Ernest Nwapa for leaving an illustrious legacy in the industry, noted that NCDMB had acquired an enviable reputation for transforming the oil and gas industry from a sector that depended on foreign inputs to one that develops and utilises local human and materials resources and indigenously owned assets.
Speaking further, the Executive Secretary identified the Nigeria Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGaPS), Polaku Pipemill project and Human capital development programs as some of the key projects he planned accelerate.
He also listed other projects that will get priority attention to include Youth Employment, Empowerment & Entrepreneurship Initiative and Marine Service Sector Strategy.
While acknowledging that the oil and gas industry was facing trying times, especially with the falling oil prices, loss of jobs, project revaluations and environmental issues, Kentebe charged staff of the Board to be guided by the national interest when operators and other interest groups come seeking for a reduction in Nigerian content scopes in view of the challenges.
