A final year student of Engineering at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu State, Emmanuel Obasi Chukwumelue has emerged the winner of the NCDMB Prize for Best Engineering Research.

His research publication was adjudged the best by COREN and the Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology (CODET) amongst other projects by final year students from universities across the country.  He was rewarded with a cash prize of Six Hundred Thousand Naira (N600,000.00).

The Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Wabote who presented the award after delivering his goodwill message at the ongoing 28th Engineering Assembly holding in Abuja explained that the award is meant to promote Research and Development culture among young engineers. He disclosed that the NCDMB is concluding plans with CODET on how to support research work and bring research findings and products into the market as part of 10-year Research and Development roadmap of the Board.

Wabote charged the engineering professionals to take lead in Research and Development as the pathway to addressing challenges and avenue to providing solutions to societal problems.

In his words, “in line with the theme of this year’s event, I look forward to greater strategic alliance amongst engineering professionals to tap into the R&D opportunities presented by the Board and develop solutions to societal problems.”
