The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is delighted to announce that Professor Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, and former chairman of NCDMB’s Governing Council, will serve as the Role Model and Guest Speaker at the NCDMB Business Mentorship Lecture Series (BMLS) for Q3 2025.
This edition of the BMLS will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 10am via Zoom Webinar and NCDMB’s YouTube channel. The session will be moderated by Richmond Osuji, a leading event compere in the oil and gas industry.
Launched in 2019 under Section 67 of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act of 2010, the Business Mentorship Lecture Seriespromote the Act’s implementation for operators, contractors, and stakeholders. This one-day capacity-building initiative engages seasoned leaders to foster growth among service and operating companies in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
This event is aimed at empowering oil and gas companies across Nigeria through targeted training, motivation, and business advisory support, and is in line with the Board’s mandate developing the capacities of oil and gas companies, and enhancing the capabilities of Nigerians to play key roles in the sector.
Prof. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu is a former Minister of State Petroleum Resources of The Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) 2015 – 2019.
He also served as Group Managing Director, NNPC from 2015-2016 and became the only Nigerian to have held at the same time then portfolios of Group Managing Director, NNPC, Minister of State Petroleum, President of OPEC, president Of GECF, and President of APPO.
He was the Executive Vice Chairman of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited and General Counsel for ExxonMobil Nigeria affiliate Upstream and Downstream Companies in Nigeria prior to his time in government.
Prof. Kachikwu’s wealth of experience and excellence in service delivery has not gone unnoticed as he has been honoured with numerous awards and prominent recognitions.
Prof. Ibe Kachikwu is a distinction graduate of Law from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and Nigerian Law School. He later bagged a Masters in Law (LLM) with special focus on Energy and Petroleum Law and a Doctorate Degree with specialization on Petroleum and Investment Law Strategies from Harvard Law School, USA where he set a record time for completing a Doctoral Thesis. He holds three Doctorate Degrees In Law, Philosophy and Business Administration from Harvard University, Trinity University USA and Opus Dei University USA. Prof kachikwu completed his first doctorate in law at Harvard law school at the age of 25.
Prof. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu is a visiting Professor in several Universities Globally including Harvard and three Nigerian universities.
He is author of over 12 law books on energy, contract, investment and petroleum. Since leaving office in 2019 as Nigeria’s Petroleum Minister, he has been serving as a global international consultant on petroleum and energy policy matters to various countries and companies apart from his hectic schedules as a global visiting professor to several universities.
Prof Kachikwu currently serves also as Chairman of several Nigerian companies and global conferencing groups.
Hosting this edition of the NCDMB Business Mentorship Lecture Series underscores the Board’s commitment under the leadership of its Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, who is also overseeing key capacity-building programmes, including the Centre for Marine and Offshore Technology Development (CMOTD) training and the graduate-trainee initiatives with PFL Engineering, among others. These programmes are designed to equip indigenous firms with the skills, operational efficiency, and strategic advantage needed to achieve sustained growth in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

These sessions have empowered over 2,500 service companies to date.
