The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Wabote has been conferred with the award of the Most Impactful Chief Executive in the Niger Delta by the Bayelsa Media Awards.
The award was conferred on the Executive Secretary at the awards ceremony held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State recently. Accepting the award, Wabote commended the organizers for recognizing the efforts of the Board and the impact of its interventions in the oil producing states and other parts of the country.
The Executive Secretary who was represented by the Manager Corporate Communications, Barr Naboth Onyesoh stated that the Board’s effective implementation of its mandate had resulted in the deployment of some interventions which have potentials to spur investments, close capacity gaps, address infrastructural needs and create thousands of jobs for the youths of the region and stimulate the local economy.

He listed some of the interventions to include investments in Modular refineries, Oil and Gas Parks, Technical and Vocational Education, Gas Cylinder Manufacturing, Fertilizer and petrochemical projects, Research and Innovation, Enterprise Development and human capital developmental programmes.
He charged stakeholders of the Niger Delta to provide a receptive and business friendly environment and eschew any form of agitation which tends to scare investors away.
Also speaking at the award ceremony, the former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan commended the Executive Secretary for his sterling performance in office.
The former President who signed the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Bill into law when he was in office in 2010, was also conferred with an award at the BMA for his disposition to peace.
According to him, “The Board under Simbi is doing well. He has been in the oil industry for quite some time, he knows exactly what to do and he is committed.  We encourage him to do more.”
