Esueme stressed that Africa is moving beyond being a consumer of technology to becoming a creator of innovative solutions. In his words, “it is worthy of note that strategic investments in digital infrastructure, research, and innovation will empower the continent to play a leading role in the global technological landscape”.

Speaking on how the Board is promoting innovation among youth, Kikile mentioned that the NCDMB sponsored Science and Technology Innovation Challenge (STIC) provides funding, mentorship, and incubation support to emerging tech startups.  He noted that the Board has also invested in multiple technology hubs and hackathons to accelerate digital growth.
